Yagmur Block Sinks France // 12 July 2007
Onat Akis made two free throws with five seconds left and Mehmet Yagmur blocked a game-winning three-point attempt at the buzzer to give Turkey an 80-79 victory over France, securing Turkey fourth place in Group E of the U20 European Championship Men.

The 2.05m Aurelien Salmon had his shot blocked by 1.86m Yagmur at the buzzer as Turkey finished 2-3 in the group while France fell to fifth at 1-4.

Caner Oner paced the Turks with 15 points and Birkan Batuk and Oguz Savas each had 14 points while Yagmur added 11 points.

The French were led by 24 points from Nando De Colo and 10 from Aaron Cel. But Michel Gomez's team shot just 39 percent from the floor, off-setting 21 turnovers by Turkey.

Turkey were ahead 18-17 after one period and 47-35 at half-time. Nihat Izic's team increased the lead to 13 points in the third quarter but France closed to within 65-60 going into the fourth.

Gomez's side eventually pulled ahead 79-78 on De Colo's lay-up with 1:04 remaining.

But Erhan Yetim blocked a De Colo three-pointer attempt with 11 seconds remaining before Akis drained his foul shots with five seconds to play.

Salmon then had an open look at the top of the cirle to win the game, but Yagmur rose from the side to bat away the ball to give Turkey the win.
