Slovenia Better Lithuania To Go 3-0 // 10.07.2007
Gasper Vidmar and Dejan Mlakar combined for 43 points to lead co-hosts Slovenia to a comfortable 96-84 victory over Lithuania on Tuesday to remain undefeated in Group E of the U20 European Championship Men.

Vidmar's 22 points and Mlakar's 21 led five Slovenians in double figures while Jan Mocnik added 18 points and 10 assists.

The 2004 champions were never really threatened after falling behind early 7-0 in front of the home fans in Nova Gorica.

Miro Alilovic's team, who improved to 3-0 in the group, led 27-19 after the first period and 52-45 at half-time.

Lithuanian Vilmantas Dilys converted a three-point play to cut the deficit to 64-60 with four minutes to play in the third, but Slovenia pushed the lead back up to 12 points (74-62) and were ahead 74-66 going into the fourth.

Paulius Ivanauskas drained a three-pointer for a five-point game early in the fourth (76-71) only to watch the Slovenians again pull away with a 12-3 run for an 88-74 lead with 3:17 to play.

Lithuania, who were paced by 21 points and five assists from Ivanauskas, would not get closer to than eight points the rest of the way.

Linas Salkus's team dropped to 0-3 and they cannot reach Saturday's semi-finals. They next face France on Wednesday.

Slovenia face Turkey on Wednesday, knowing a victory could secure their spot in the semis.
