Spain came away from the U20 European Championship Men in Riga with a bronze medal around their neck after a big win over Turkey on Sunday night.  Afterwards they celebrated with FIBAEurope.com.

Serbia Golden Again // 10 August 2008

Serbia are the 2008 U20 European Championship Men gold medallists after a 96-89 win over Lithuania in a finals game that will be marked as one of the best in recent years.

This is the third year in a row Serbia are crowned in this competition but it came as no surprise.

Raduljica Named MVP // 10 August 2008
Miroslav Raduljica of Serbia was named the MVP of the 2008 U20 European Championship Men in Riga, after leading his team to yet another gold medal.


The 210cm center dominated the championship from the first to the last day. He finished the games with a double-double average of 18.6 ppg and 10.9 rpg with a total of five games with double-double including the grand finals.

Spain Capture Bronze // 10 August 2008

For the third time ever Spain has won the bronze medal in the U20 European Championship Men after a 91-72 victory over Turkey on Sunday night in Riga.

This generation of Spain also won the bronze medal two years ago in the 2006 U18 European Championship.

Montenegro Finish On Winning Note // 10 August 2008

In their debut performance in the U20 European Championship Men team of Montenegro finished fifth after a 79-63 triumph over Italy.

The losing side will settle for the sixth place in the competition after a roller coaster performance.

On the first day of the 2008 U20 European Championship Ukraine's Sergiy Gladyr set a stunning record by connecting 11 three pointers in a single game.

That record is valid for all youth categories, and was by one hit better than the previous one.

France Ride Mbaye To Victory // 10 August 2008

The game for the seventh place doesn't draw a lot of attention usually, but France's 96-78 win over Ukraine won't be forgotten soon by those who attended.

The bottom line is that France won the seventh place while Ukraine is ranked eighth at the end of the championship.

The European and World champs took control over the game right from the start, using their size advantage.

Montenegro Roll Over Ukraine // 09 August 2008

Montenegro will get a chance to fight for the fifth spot tomorrow after an easy 90-53 win over Ukraine in the 5-8 classification games. 

Montenegro will take on Italy trying to capture fifth place, while Ukraine will fight for the seventh spot against France.

Italy Top France // 09 August 2008

Italy earned a spot in the 5-6 classification game after a 71-56 win over France.

The Italians will take on Montenegro with high hopes to finish fifth, while France will play Ukraine in a battle on the seventh spot.
